Research College of Nursing

Research College of Nursing is secular, private and an entirely accredited institution located in the metropolitan area of greater Kansas City.

The college offers two-post master’s certification and three graduate tracks. It also offers Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in partnership with the Rock Hurst University.

Founded in 1983, The National League for Nursing, headquarters in New York was the first nursing organization that was formed, as the American Society of Superintendents of Training Schools for Nurses.

Prerequisites for Nursing

A high school diploma or a General Educational Development certificate with an above average score in different subjects and complete attendance is the minimum qualification required for a student to pursue a career in nursing.

An associate’s degree is required to be eligible for a degree in Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNS) and Master of Nursing Science (MNS). To become a Vocational Nurse, Registered Nurse or a Practical Nurse you will have to pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). The prerequisites for online nursing courses are similar to the campus programs.


Nursing Certifications

Certified nurses have several growth opportunities and their patients confide and trust them. The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) issues these certifications, and there are over 200 certification courses available. A Nurse can take a one-year Licensed Practical Nurse certification or the Registered Nurse (RN) certification, which is an advanced certification level.

The responsibility of the nurse may be varied but all of them have to complete the nursing process, which includes diagnosis, assessments, evaluation, planning, and implementation.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses focus on a particular specialty like pediatrics, oncology etc. and have long-term career options as compared to Licensed Practical Nurses.

Nursing degrees and programs.

There are several nursing degrees and programs available and hence it is important to make the right choice before choosing a particular nursing program.

Graduates can take the Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program, which takes a year and then can complete an associate’s program like the Associates of Science in nursing which takes 2 years and permits you to become a Registered nurse.

LPN can also take Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) which take 4 years and provides several job opportunities. Few other nursing programs are RN to BSN, Second Degree BSN, Accelerated degree BSN, Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), RN to MSN, Direct Entry MSN etc.

Research College of Nursing offers Bachelors of Science in Nursing for undergraduates with two programs. Students without a college degree can opt for the traditional BSN while students with a non-nursing degree can opt for Accelerated BSN.

The salary of a nurse may vary depending upon the job title, work environment etc. A registered nurse may start at $39000 whereas a nurse’s salary in a hospital may start at $74760.Several years of work experience and higher education qualification will draw a higher salary.
